The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has apprehended Onu Simeon following a fatal altercation that resulted in the death of Ifeanyi Chukwu at Utako Market, Abuja.

This was disclosed by the command’s spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh.

“On February 5, 2025, at about 9:30 a.m., the Command received a distress call regarding a fight at Utako Market.

“Police operatives swiftly responded to the scene, where Ifeanyi Chukwu was found lying unconscious. He was immediately rushed to NNPC Hospital, Utako, where a medical doctor confirmed him dead.”

Ifeanyi Chukwu of Kuchigoro, Lugbe, and Onu Simeon of Anguwan Biggy, Jabi Daki Biyu, reportedly fought over a location to showcase their wares, according to preliminary findings.

The disagreement evolved into a physical confrontation, during which Chukwu collapsed and lost consciousness.

A general hospital has received his body for additional examination. While the investigation is ongoing, Onu Simeon is being held by the police.

Adeh stated that more information will be shared when it is appropriate.

CP Olatunji Disu, the FCT Commissioner of Police, emphasised the terrible results of violence and urged citizens to use peaceful methods of conflict resolution.

He promised the populace that the Command will uphold law and order across the Federal Capital Territory.
