The Abia State Police Command has verified that a Nigerian Air Force Tarmac Four cadet died in a prominent hotel swimming pool in Umuahia, the state capital.

The NAF Tarmac Four cadet, simply known as CDT Chidiebere, apparently died at the swimming pool on Tuesday.

The victim, who was scheduled to graduate from the National Defence Academy in a few months, had come to the facility with friends and wanted to swim in the facility’s swimming pool when the tragedy occurred.

A source who spoke on the condition of anonymity stated that the victim vanished from the pool’s surface at about 6:37 p.m. on Tuesday.

According to the source, men from the state fire department discovered his lifeless body and certified it as dead at the Federal Medical Centre Umuahia.

The Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO ASP Maureen Chinaka, stated on Friday that “the attention of CPS was called to it, and the investigation is ongoing.”

According to reports, the 14th Brigade of the Nigerian Army in Ohafia, as well as the state’s Navy formation, are aware of the occurrence.
