The Kwara State Police Command has confirmed the brutal murder of Oba Aremu Olusegun Cole, a traditional ruler of the Koro community in Kwara State’s Ekiti Local Government Area.

According to a statement signed by the Kwara State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP, Ejire Adeyemi Toun, the traditional ruler was assassinated in his palace, and his wife was kidnapped together with another woman on Thursday night by gunmen.

While assuring the public that no stone will be left unturned in bringing the perpetrators to justice as soon as possible, the police public relations officer stated that the Kwara State Commissioner of Police has formed an investigation team to crack down on the perpetrators of the heinous crime.

Security measures have also been tightened in the Koro village, and tactical teams are being sent to bolster security to safeguard the safety and well-being of Koro inhabitants.

Meanwhile, Kwara State Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq condemned the killing of Olukoro of Koro, calling it appalling, reckless, and terrible.

While condoling with the people of Koro, the governor directed security authorities to employ all available means to find the culprits and free the deceased monarch’s wife and another person who had been kidnapped.
