    Police begin search for woman after officer dies in Ogun hotel

    The Ogun State Police Command has initiated a manhunt for an unidentified woman after Inspector Haruna Mohammed, an officer of the Lagos State Police Command’s Ishashi Division, was discovered dead in a hotel at Anthony Uzum Estate in Oyeyemi Akute, Ogun State.

    Omolola Odutola, a spokeswoman for the Ogun State Police Command, confirmed the inspector’s death on Sunday, saying the woman had booked into the hotel room with the victim but left shortly after.

    The inspector allegedly checked into the hotel with an unknown woman at 1:00 a.m. on Saturday. A few hours later, his lifeless body was discovered in the room under strange circumstances.

    At 8:52 a.m., the hotel manager reported finding the room’s door unlocked. When they checked inside, they discovered the officer’s body.

    The fleeing woman allegedly went to reception at 6:00 a.m. to seek a bottle of tap water before departing. The police have declared Mohammed’s death to be “unnatural.”

    The command’s spokesperson went on to add that identifying the deceased was difficult at first.

    She stated, “At first, only a uniform was found in his bag, so it was not immediately possible to confirm he was a police officer. There was no identification card on him or among his belongings.

    “However, further investigation revealed that the deceased was an inspector of police serving with the Ishashi Division in the Lagos Command. The DPO has been contacted, and his body has been identified. We have launched a manhunt for the fleeing woman.”

    A similar instance occurred in late January, when Inspector Lawal Ibrahim of the FCT’s Kwali Division was discovered dead at the Palasa Guest Inn in Gwagwalada after allegedly engaging in a sexual encounter with a woman he met online.

    Ibrahim had checked into the hotel with Maryam Abba, whom he had invited from Dutse in Jigawa State. The two apparently had a sexual experience the night before, followed by another round the next morning.

    However, after the second round, Abba realized Ibrahim’s respiration had become uneven, and he stopped responding.

    She tried to resuscitate him by sprinkling water on him, but there was no reaction. She then raised the alarm and notified the hotel manager, Danlami Palasa, who immediately called the police.

    Abba was eventually detained, and the FCT police have remained mute about the incident.
