The Delta State Police Command has arrested Peter, 21, and ThankGod, 17, for the murders of two individuals in different incidences.
In a video interview published on Thursday by Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Edafe Bright, the accused admitted to their crimes.
Peter confesses to killing his friend, Ifeayin Ezekiel, for unpaid pay.
Peter claimed Ezekiel had not paid him for a task, and when questioned, a struggle ensued, resulting in Ezekiel’s death.
Peter said, “He gave me a job. He does not pay me money. So I invited him to another job; when he finished, he asked for his payment, and I refused to pay him, stating that he owed me. So this thing caused a quarrel. So we started fighting, and the guy died. I use a knife to stab am.”
On the other hand, ThankGod, a 17-year-old, admitted to killing a man with a machete in retaliation for his mother’s beating four days earlier.
He went on to say that when he confronted the man on the day he had attacked his mother, a struggle broke out and Thank God was hurt.
ThankGod, who was outraged about what had transpired, was advised to forgive the man; but, four days later, ThankGod saw the man and admitted to attacking the victim with a machete, slashing him.
According to him, he had no idea it would lead to the man’s death.
Thank God said, “I go fight am (the man) as I see my mama for floor. I’ll go fight for his house. The man used a small knife to cut me for hand. So they tell me to forgive the man; I should leave him because he is an old man. I saw the man four days later. After I cut the man’s hand, he just jumped down from his bike and ran inside the cassava bush.”
Bright expressed sadness at the incidents, emphasising the culprits’ young age. He warned young people about the perils of uncontrollable rage and the consequences of their behaviour. He stated that both individuals would be charged in court.
