Police have detained three lawyers who are allegedly submitting procedures for the All Progressives Congress at the Port Harcourt electoral appeal panel.
The lawyers are said to be drafting applications to challenge the results of the recently ended gubernatorial election in Rivers State announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission.
They were allegedly apprehended on Friday night at a motel in Port Harcourt. Their capture is still being investigated.
The lawyers work for the Senior Advocate of Nigeria Tuduru Ede’s Chamber.
Darlington Nwauju, the State APC Publicity Secretary, verified the event to our reporter on Saturday afternoon.
“That is correct. They were apprehended late last night. “We will brief the press,” Nwauju said.
Attempts to contact the state Police Command’s spokeswoman, Grace Iringe-Koko, were futile because her phone was not accessible at the time of writing this report.
Details will be provided later.
