The Rivers State Police Command has said that its officers have busted an armed robbery/kidnapping syndicate terrorising residents of Bori, the state’s Khana Local Government Area headquarters, and its surrounding areas.
According to the police, four members of the gang were apprehended by Bori Command agents in response to a distress call about the miscreants’ activities.
Grace Iringe-Koko, a spokesman for the state police command, confirmed the arrest to reporters on Sunday.
According to Superintendent of Police Iringe-Koko, charms, hard drugs, and guns were recovered from the accused.
She stated, “Yes, I can confirm the arrest. We recorded another major breakthrough in our fight against violent crimes. There are four suspected members of an armed robbery and kidnapping syndicate.
“It was on Friday, August 8, 2025, at about 11:30 hrs, when a team of operatives from the Bori Division, while on routine patrol along Nkpee Street, Bori, acted swiftly upon receiving a distress call regarding the suspicious activities of unknown persons in the area.”
The suspects’ identities, according to the state police image creator, are Solomon Chris (26), Fabulous John (26), Wisdom Kalongo (30), and Wisdom Samuel (33).
She continued, “The following items were recovered from the suspects: one locally made revolver pistol, one live ammunition, quantities of hard drugs (loud), criminal charms, and one ash-coloured Toyota Sienna vehicle with Registration No. BNY-758FS.
“The suspects are currently in custody, and an investigation is ongoing to apprehend other fleeing members of the gang and recover more of their operational weapons.”
The PPRO mentioned that the command remained committed to ensuring the safety and security of all residents and called on members of the public to continue to provide timely and useful information to the police.
