Daniel Bwala, spokesperson for President Bola Tinubu, has alleged that former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has surrendered his presidential ambition to Atiku Abubakar, Nigeria’s former Vice President.
Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Monday, Bwala claimed that Obi has been sidelined within the newly formed African Democratic Congress, ADC coalition.
According to Bwala, Obi now plays a secondary role and is battling Rotimi Amaechi, former Minister of Transportation, for the vice-presidential slot.
Bwala said, “Peter Obi now is a non-issue. He’s a non starter. Already, he has conceded his presidential ambition to Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.
“Now he has become a second fiddle but he needs to fight for the vice presidential ticket with Rotimi Amaechi. And from what we are hearing they have convinced him that he will be Director General of the campaign to lead the movement, and that when they win election, Atiku will do one time and then Peter Obi will come back to become president.”
The spokesperson further asserted that Obi has been positioned to serve as the Director-General of the ADC’s 2027 campaign, reinforcing claims that the coalition has effectively sidelined him from the presidential race.
The ADC, which recently unveiled its coalition platform, includes notable political figures such as Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, and Rotimi Amaechi.
