The Southwest caucus of the House of Representatives has described the death of Pa Ayo Adebanjo as the ”departure of a towering figure whose lifelong dedication to natural justice, equity, and good governance shaped the course of Nigeria’s democratic evolution.”

In a statement jointly signed by Rt. Hon. Dr. James Abiodun Faleke, Chairman, Southwest Caucus, House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Ibrahim Ayokunle Isiaka, Deputy Chief Whip, House of Representatives, and Hon. Taofeek Abimbola Ajilesoro, Secretary, Southwest Caucus, House of Representatives, the House mentioned that Pa Adebanjo’s dedication to nation building remains unrivaled.

”The Southwest Caucus of the House of Representatives joins Afenifere, the Yoruba Race at home and in the diaspora, the Government and people of Ogun State, and all other well-meaning Nigerians in mourning the passing of an illustrious Elder Statesman, foremost advocate of democracy, and a revered leader from the Southwest, Pa Ayo Adebanjo,” the statement reads.

”Pa Adebanjo’s transition marks the departure of a towering figure whose lifelong dedication to natural justice, equity, and good governance shaped the course of Nigeria’s democratic evolution.

”As a close associate of the late sage, Chief Obafemi Awolowo, and a founding member of the Action Group, his contributions to nation-building and the entrenchment of progressive governance remain unparalleled,” it added.

The statement also described the deceased as ”A steadfast voice for restructuring, national unity, and true federalism, Pa Adebanjo exemplified the values of integrity, courage, and unwavering patriotism.

”Through his leadership in Afenifere, he remained a principled and consistent advocate for the protection of democratic ideals and the socio-political advancement of the Nigerian state.

”The Southwest Caucus recognizes his immense sacrifices and contributions to the collective aspirations of our region and the nation at large.

”As representatives of the people, we reaffirm our commitment to upholding the ideals he so passionately championed.

”We pray for the peaceful repose of the soul of the dear departed, and may his legacy continue to inspire generations to come.”
