Former Vice President of Nigeria, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, on Thursday arrived in Katsina State to condole with the Yar’Adua family following the passing of Hajiya Aya Dada, wife of Musa Yar’Adua, a Minister of Lagos Affairs.
Hajiya Yar’Adua is the mother of Umaru Yar’Adua, Nigeria’s President between 2007-2010 until his demise.
She is also the mother of General Shehu Yar’Adua and Senator Abdulaziz Yar’Adua, a serving senator in the National Assembly representing Katsina Central senatorial district since 2023.
In videos posted by Laolu Akande, spokesperson to Osinbajo, he noted that the former Vice President was received by the governor, Dikko Radda, and Senator Kabiru Gaya.

Hajia Dada Yar’Adua, the revered matriarch of the Yar’Adua family, whose influence spanned decades of Nigerian politics.
Her death marks the end of an era for a family that has profoundly shaped Nigeria’s political landscape.
Dada Yar’Adua died in Katsina on Monday night after a protracted illness at the age of 102. It was announced in a statement by one of her sons and the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Army, Abdulaziz Yar’Adua, through his media aide, Abdul Hassan.
Her death came 14 years after the passing of one of her sons and former Nigeria President, Umaru Yar’Adua, and 27 years after her eldest son, Shehu Yar’Adua, a military general, died.
Umaru died as President of Nigeria on May 5, 2010, at the age of 58 years, while Shehu, who was the de facto vice president of Nigeria, died on December 8, 1997, at the age of 54 years.
