A man identified as Lawal was on Sunday morning killed and two others injured in an accident involving three vehicles on Otedola Bridge, Lagos.
This accident occurred less than 24 hours after rescuers responded to multiple accidents involving three articulated vehicles around Maryland on Ikorodu Road.
It was gathered the accident on Sunday involved a truck with two registration numbers- LSD973XM and FKJ214XY-, a Toyota Wagon with registration number JJJ28FR and Toyota Camry with number BDG597CY.
According to the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), the accident occurred around 11:30am and involved six persons.
According to reports, it took the combined efforts of rescuers from FRSC, Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) and the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) to evacuate affected vehicles from the bridge and clear the road of impending traffic.
Although the cause of the accident was not stated, the FRSC said the truck driver fled the scene before arrival of emergency workers.
A statement by spokesperson for Lagos Sector Command, Route Commander Olabisi Sonusi, assured that the driver would be apprehended and prosecuted once the commission identifies owner of the vehicle.
She said the others who sustained injuries were rushed to the hospital for attention.
However, LASEMA in a statement, claimed the truck driver was seriously injured and evacuated to the Trauma Centre near FRSC Office by old Lagos-Ibadan Toll Gate.
It said the remains of the deceased man has been claimed by his relatives.
