Peter Obi, the Labour Party presidential candidate in the 2023 general election, has sympathised with President Bola Tinubu following his mishap on Wednesday.
Chronicle NG reports that Tinubu fell while boarding the presidential guard vehicle at the Eagle Square, Abuja, during the event commemorating Nigeria’s Democracy Day.
The incident has led to well-wishers sending their wishes to the Nigerian leader.
Speaking on the incident, Obi, in a statement on his verified X page on Wednesday, mentioned that he is “saddened to learn of President Tinubu’s unfortunate fall today.”
“I wish him well. We achieve nothing by gloating about an accident that could well happen to any of us,” Obi added.
The former governor of Anambra State mentioned that, though he disagrees with the policies of the president, all and sundry should focus on issues that will propel Nigeria to great heights.
“We are all human beings, and while we profoundly disagree on how to move Nigeria forward, we must remember our common human frailty. Let us stay focused on the issues that will lead to a new Nigeria,” he said.
“May this moment serve as a poignant reminder of our shared humanity and the need for compassion, empathy, and unity in our pursuit of a brighter future for our great nation,” Obi added.
