2027: Obidients reply Bwala, vow resistance against plot to remove Obi from ballot

Peter Obi, the candidate of the Labour Party in the 2023 presidential election, has pledged his unwavering loyalty to the party.

In a statement on his X page on Thursday, Obi stated that he remains “a committed, loyal Labour Party member.”

Obi mentioned that he has zero intentions of leaving the party on which he contested the 2023 presidential election.

His statement comes amid speculation that the former governor of Anambra State is quitting the party to ally with Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, the People’s Democratic Party flag bearer in the 2023 general election.

Recall that in May, Obi paid a courtesy call to Atiku, and he remained silent about the deliberations he had with the former vice president of Nigeria.

Setting the records straight, Obi stated that he remains “a faithful, committed, and loyal member of the Labour Party.”

He added that his meetings with other political bigwigs are to “reconcile our valued members and partner with like-minded minds and parties all over the country to build a strong and better party that will catalyze and commence the rebuilding of a new Nigeria.”

Obi’s statement reads, “For the avoidance of doubt, ‘I remain a committed, loyal Labour Party member’.

“That is my definitive response to all Nigerians who may be in doubt about my party affiliation in the light of recent reports and conflicting interpretations of recent political expressions.

“I have just been confronted by a journalist at Abuja airport wanting to know if my statement on the Obidient Movement yesterday was a signal of my leaving the Labour Party.

“For the attention of all those holding such an impression and for the general public, I remain a faithful, committed, and loyal member of the Labour Party.

“Indeed, as a leader of the party, my aspiration and desire to work closely with other leaders is to reconcile our valued members and partner with like minds and parties all over the country to build a strong and better party that will catalyse and commence the rebuilding of a new Nigeria.”
