Nigerians have slammed state governors in the country after a Local Council Development Agency (LCDA) in Lagos State completed a housing estate.
Chronicle NG reports that Greenwich Garden Estate, built by Agboyi-Ketu LCDA of Lagos State, sparked debate over the performance of state governors to deliver affordable housing.
The 27-hectare Greenwich Gardens, which comprise 101 apartments—66 units of two-bedroom flats, 14 units of three-semi-detached houses, one unit of four-bedroom detached houses, 20 units of three-bedroom terraces, and 65 residential plots (sites and service schemes)—were executed through a public-private partnership initiative.

The housing estate, according to the Senior Special Assistant on New Media to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Jubril Gawat, is located in the Ajelogo area of Agboyi-Ketu.
Reacting to the viral pictures of the estate, sighted by Chronicle NG, on X formerly Twitter, MYDEjewel stated, “I wish governors of other states in Nigeria can subject their governors to full internship at marina, makw Sanwoolu train them. Cos see the project An LCDA is doing in Lagos. Haaaa.”
Another X user with the username @naijapatriot said, “Lmaooo this project is a state project in some states. See the project An LCDA chairman is executing in Lagos. LAGOS NA BABA”
Eldershody tweeted, “This is done by a LCDA chairman. Not even the governor!!!!!! You will know a serious state when you see one. Itesiwaju eko”

Calling out the governor of Edo State, Ishola Abolore posted, “The kind of project OBASEKI will put for head and even make a video for.”
As for Tayo Patrick, a project of that nature by the Abia State government would remain a big deal.
He posted, “If this happened in Abia. They would have declared a public holiday, @FinPlanKaluAja1 would have come to tell us all the economic benefits for the next 20 years”
The project was commissioned by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State on Friday, December 15, 2023.
