Aisha Yesufu, a Nigerian activist turned politician, had alleged that Nigerian politicians are able to fund their lavish lifestyle and that of their cumcubines as a result of stolen public wealth.

Yesufu’s statement comes in response to Dr. Sam Amadi’s comment, where he blamed the looting of the public treasury by politicians on their “expensive girlfriends.”

Amadi had stated that politicians steal in a bid to fund the expensive lifestyle of their “needless girlfriends.”

“This may not be true. But it is normal with Nigerian politicians. I am convinced that without these ‘needlessly’ expensive girlfriends, these politicians won’t steal that much. Their family does not enjoy up to 25% of their stolen wealth,” Amadi stated.

Disagreeing with Amadi’s claims, Yesufu, in a statement on X on Tuesday, mentioned that “the girlfriends are not the ones making them steal.”

She noted that these political office holders “have girlfriends because of their stolen wealth.”

She berated political office holders for engaging in extramarital affairs with “their children’s age mates” in a bid to remain young.

“I disagree, Prof,” she said. “The girlfriends are not the ones making them steal. They have the girlfriends because of their stolen wealth, which they think can buy them anything, including youth,” she added.

“How else can they feel young other than by going out with their children’s agemates?” Yesufu queried in her statement.
