The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has announced 288 confirmed new coronavirus cases in the country on Friday.
The 288 cases announced by the Centre for Disease Control takes the total number of confirmed cases to 5445.
The NCDC also announced the discharge of 140 patients from isolation centers across the country and four deaths were also reported.
Lagos state, the epicentre of the virus in Nigeria topped the number of confirmed cases with a whooping 179 new cases taking the total number of confirmed cases in Lagos alone to 2278.
“Twenty new cases were reported in Kaduna, 15 in Katsina and Jigawa respectively.
“13-Borno 11-Ogun 8-Kano 7-FCT 4-Niger 4-Ekiti 3-Oyo 3-Delta 3-Bauchi 2-Kwara and 1-Edo.
According to the NCDC, there are 5445 cases of COVID-19 in Nigeria with 1320 patients discharged and 171 deaths.
NCDC that on the 14th of May, four cases reported from Plateau and one case from Akwa Ibom, were repeat cases.
“Therefore Plateau has a total of 21 cases and Akwa Ibom has a total of 16 cases. We apologise to this State Governments for this error and remain committed to ensuring accurate reporting,” NCDC said.
