    FLASH: Nigeria announces 242 coronavirus cases

    The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has announced 242 confirmed coronavirus cases in the country on Monday.

    The 242 cases announced by the Centre for Disease Control takes the total number of confirmed cases to 4641.

    The NCDC also announced the discharge of 124 patients from isolation centers across the country and seven deaths were also reported.

    Lagos state, the epicentre of the virus in Nigeria topped the number of confirmed cases with 88 new cases.

    Kano reported 64 new cases, Katsina recorded 49, Kaduna had 13 new cases, Ogun reported nine while Gombe recorded six cases.

    Adamawa reported four cases while the Federal Capital Territory recorded three.

    Ondo, Oyo, Rivers, Zamfara, Borno and Bauchi all had one case each.

    According to the NCDC, there are 4641 cases of COVID-19 in Nigeria with 902 patients discharged and 150 deaths.

    NCDC also explained an error in its report on Sunday. “On the 10th of April 2020, we erroneously announced two new deaths in Nasarawa.

    “There was one death in Nasarawa reported on the 10th of April We apologise to the State Government for this error, and remain committed to providing accurate data,” the center for disease control said.
