The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has issued a warning about the risk of rapid flooding along the River Niger and River Benue Basins as a result of water released from the Lagdo Dam in the Republic of Cameroon.
Mr Mustapha Ahmed, Director General of NEMA, gave the warning during a media briefing in Abuja.
Mr Ahmed claims that states such as Adamawa, Taraba, and Benue are already facing the effects of massive flooding caused by Lagdo Dam water.
The agency urged governments around the River Benue and River Niger Basins to activate their emergency response plans immediately, warning that more states in the basin will face floods in the coming days.
