A businessman simply identified as Success has landed in the hospital after being run over by Police officers with their car in Ekpoma, Edo State.

The sad incident that happened today, Thursday, June 29, 2023, shows Success handcuffed on the floor before being run over by the police vehicle.

A viral video making the rounds on social media shows a popular lounge owner in Ekpoma being dragged under the vehicle.

According to an eyewitness report, the officers wanted to check his phone, but he resisted. This led to the police handcuffing him.

In a bid to stop the men of the force from arresting him, he laid in front of the police vehicle, urging them to uncuff him. However, the officers drove on top of him, which resulted in the businessman sustaining various degrees of injuries.

“People gathered and said there was no way the police officers were going to arrest the boy.

“When the pressure became too much for them, the officers got into their car and wanted to leave without uncuffing him.

“In a bid to stop them from leaving, he lay down in front of the car, hoping they would not move it, but they did; they ran over him,” the eyewitness stated.

The yet-to-be identified officers, however, took to their heels after running over the victim.

The Ekpoma Police Command is yet to comment on the issue at the time of filing this report.
