    BREAKING: National Assembly rejects life pension, immunity for Senate President, House Speaker, others

    The National Assembly on Tuesday rejected a Bill proposed to ensure that presiding officers of the legislature, that is, the Senate President, Deputy Senate President, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Deputy Speaker and others will not be entitled to life pension after leaving office.

    The senate during voting on the report rejected pension for presiding officers of the legislature.

    Out of a total number of 88 Senators registered to vote on the bill, 34 voted in support, and 53 against the bill.

    Similarly, a Bill For An Act to alter the provisions of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 to expand immunity to the legislative and judicial arms of government; and for related matters.
