The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has targeted counterfeit cosmetics in Abuja, seizing unlawful products worth ₦37 million.
Following intelligence reports, NAFDAC’s Investigation and Enforcement Directorate carried out coordinated raids on multiple supermarkets and open markets, including Wuse and Garki markets.
According to a statement released on Tuesday via X, the agency confiscated unregistered and counterfeit cosmetics worth ₦37 million.
NAFDAC is dedicated to investigating the sources of these unlawful items and enforcing strong regulatory measures against those responsible.”
The seized items, which were unregistered and counterfeit, would be destroyed in compliance with the Agency’s laws and regulations to preserve public safety.
The agency pledged to continue its efforts to rid the market of dangerous cosmetics while emphasising consumer health and safety.
“All confiscated items will be destroyed in line with the Agency’s laws and regulations, ensuring public safety,” the statement added.
