Nigerian music icon Onyeka Onwenu, also known as the “Elegant Stallion,” will be buried in Lagos on Friday.

According to CKN News, the family has announced that the funeral would be held at the Fountain of Life Church in Ilupeju, followed by a private burial in an Ikoyi mausoleum.

A funeral poster also revealed that the Service of Songs is scheduled for 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., with the burial following from 2-4 pm.

The music maestro, loved also for her serenading voice, died on Tuesday, July 30, 2024 at Reddington Hospital in Lagos after collapsing during the 80th birthday party of Emzor Pharmaceuticals CEO, Mrs. Stella Okoli, where she performed.

Prior to her death, she had instructed her children to bury her in a private ceremony attended by close family members and friends, without any form of “unnecessary” funfair.

Onwenu was not only a talented musician with several successes but also a broadcaster, actor, politician, and activist.

The music icon who died at the age of 72, is survived by two sons.
