The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, visited the scene of a collapsed building in Garki II, Abuja, on Thursday.
Chronicle NG reports that a two-story building housing many business centres collapsed at the Garki area of the FCT, leading to the deaths of two and trapping several others.
Speaking to newsmen at the scene of the collapsed building on Thursday morning, Wike reiterated his earlier comment that buildings without proper approval within the nation’s capital territory would be demolished.
“This is what we are saying: any building without approval will go down,” he said.
“We don’t hate anybody. All we are saying is that the proper thing should be done,” he added.
Addressing the press on his first day as the Minister of the FCT, Wike announced that any building that contravenes the Abuja Master Plan will be pulled down.
He further added that he will work in accordance with the Abuja Master Plan and demolish illegal structures.
