Law enforcement from five nations has destroyed an intercontinental criminal network transporting migrants from Cuba to the European Union, leading to the arrest of 62 people, according to Europol and Interpol, which coordinated the international investigation.
According to a Europol statement, the criminal network targeted vulnerable Cubans and offered to manage their voyage to Europe and supply bogus papers for 9,000 euros ($9,969.30).
It is estimated that the criminal network trafficked over 5,000 Cubans into the EU.
In addition to the arrests, police seized 18 parcels of real estate, 33 cars, and 144 bank accounts, as well as large quantities of cash in various currencies.
