President Muhammadu Buhari’s nephew, Mallam Mamman Daura is not in the United Kingdom for emergency medical treatment, a presidential aide has said.

The personal assistant on new media to President Buhari, Bashir Ahmad, posted a video of Daura receiving a call in his apartment in the UK.

He then urged Nigerians to disregard any news that the President’s nephew was in the UK for emergency medical treatment.

“No iota of truth in the earlier story that Mallam Mamman Daura was flown to London for an emergency medical attention, he is hale and hearty, Nigerians should disregard that story,” he said in a tweet.

A source in the Presidency had earlier said it was inappropriate for the Presidency to speak on Daura’s personal issues because he is not a government official, adding that, it would be wrong to expect any reaction from the government.

“Is he (Daura) a government official? Is that how the Presidency has been speaking officially on the movement of private citizens? I think it will be unfair to expect the Presidency to speak on this,” the source said.
