Electoral officials are yet to arrive Polling Units O61 and 008 in Lagos State’s Ojodu Local Government Area.
At least eight people are sat in the polling unit, waiting for officials of the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission, LASIEC, who were still absent as of 11 a.m.
Despite the presence of two police officers at the unit, potential voters expressed disappointment that others who had been waiting with them had returned to their individual residences.
“We have been here since 7am. What is delaying them? When are we going to start accreditation, if by 11am we haven’t started?
“One of the men who came here this morning came from Ijebu in Ogun State. He works in Lagos, and was registered here, that is why he came here to vote, but he left in anger,” a middle-aged woman, Mrs Muinat Adejobi, told our correspondent.
“These officials have not arrived in any part of Ojodu. We have been going round polling units on a bike; no electoral officials are present. This is not acceptable,” a man who gave his name as Wale told our correspondent.
Another woman, who informed our correspondent she had been waiting since 7 a.m., remarked that many adolescents in the vicinity had lost interest due to the absence of officials, who she claimed should have arrived sooner.
“I heard some of these officials are trekking down here because they don’t have a vehicle. Are we the ones who should be waiting for them or the ones who should be here before us?” She asked.
