Former Kano State governor Rabiu Kwankwaso has stated that state branches of the New Nigeria Peoples Party will be reinforced before the 2027 general election.
Kwankwaso, speaking in Osogbo, Osun State, during a visit to the NNPP state secretariat, stated that the party would not play second fiddle in the country’s political landscape.
According to a statement released on Friday by Osun NNPP chairman Dr. Tosin Odeyemi, a three-man team comprised of Dr. Rahila Aliyu Mukhtar, Dr. Muhammad S. Khalil, and Alhaji Abdusalam Abdulateef represented Kwankwaso, the NNPP’s national leader, during the visit.
According to Kwankwaso, the release read in part, Various reports from states, especially Osun, are giving me joy as the national leader. We are not unaware of the challenges ahead of us towards 2027, but we are prepared.
“Nigerians have so far realised that various leaders we have been having are intentionally spreading poverty among the citizens. They want to cajole them again in 2027 with crumbs.
“NNPP, as a party, has good intentions for the masses. We have started mobilising people all over. We are equipping our state offices, and we are also providing them with vehicles to ease their movement. We are ready to strengthen state chapters.”
Earlier, Osun NNPP chairman Odeyemi praised Kwankwaso for prioritising the welfare of his people over all other considerations.
Odeyemi pledged that the party leadership in Osun would not rest till more members joined the group to establish a more virile party.
