The Director General on Media and Publicity to the Governor of Kogi State, Kingsley Fanwo, has taken a dig at the opposition party in the state, calling it “confused and pitiable.”

Reacting to attacks on the APC-led government in the state by leaders of the PDP, Fanwo said PDP is “largely responsible for the rot the present administration in the state is correcting.”

His words: “We do not want the PDP to distract the present administration from continuing to deliver democracy dividends to the people through the New Direction Agenda.

“Politics has not started. It is time to serve the good people of Kogi State who gave their votes to the party that has brought change and prosperity to the state.

“The PDP should stop creating an impression that it is alive in the state. It is a pitiable party of personalities, who failed to protect the commonwealth of the people.

“The Implementation Committee of White Paper of the Judicial commission of Inquiry into the past administrations has started sitting and we are at advanced stages of recovering what they stole from the people.

“That is why they are crying wolf and suddenly becoming the friends of the workers they failed to pay while in office despite taking allocations running into scores of billions of naira.

“No level of blackmail and campaign of calumny will distract Governor Yahaya Bello from ensuring corruption is rooted out of the psyche of present and future leaders of the state.

“The loss of a member of the House of Representatives representing Okene/Ogori Federal Constituency to the APC on the floor of the House today is an indication of a stronger APC in Kogi State.

“Today, APC is stronger than the pre-2015 era.”

The Governor’s spokesman welcomed Hon. Tijani Damisa to the APC, saying his defection has further confirmed the leadership qualities of the party.

“Recently, PDP lost a member of the House of Assembly in the state to the APC.

“Today, a distinguished member of the House of Representatives, who enjoys massive followership among his people defected to the APC.

“These defections are not accidental but a confirmation that the Governor is in charge of the party in Kogi State.

“The high-caliber defectors believe in the leadership of the Governor.”

He said the State Government has an “iron-cast commitment to the civil service reforms in the state”, insisting that “any civil servant who intentionally refused to use the clock-in clock-out device has already communicated a strong message to the government.”

Fanwo urged the youth in the state to key into the agricultural revolution in the state, saying the Governor has taken bold steps that will “make agriculture the biggest employer of Labour and creator of wealth in the state.”

“We are already a leading food producer in the nation. But Kogi State has taken a new leap to herald a new era in agriculture by approving a scheme that will put agriculture in the hands of the youth in the state.

“Through the scheme, over three thousand youth will become millionaires through the production of cassava. Kogi is taking agriculture to the next pedestal,” he said.
