The Kogi State Government reported the rescue of six more students, bringing the total number of kidnapped pupils freed to twenty.
This was contained in a statement published on Tuesday by the state commissioner for information, Kingsley Fanwo.
The Commissioner said, “Our data shows that there are four students yet to be found.”
“The fierce gun battle between security agents and the kidnappers forced the kidnappers to succumb to superior firepower and abandon the kidnapped students. Some of the kidnappers escaped with severe injuries.” Fanwo said.
Recall that the police announced last Thursday that 14 kids had been rescued, while the Commissioner stated that the relatives of the six recently recovered children have confirmed that the pupils have returned home.
He stated that the Executive Governor of Kogi State, Usman Ododo, extended his heartfelt gratitude to the Joint Forces who carried out the operations, asking them to continue the search until the last student is located.
“We wish to assure the public that the security architecture around our schools has been recalibrated for efficiency and early warning alarms to prevent future occurrences,” he added.
