The Federal Government has attributed the delayed June 2025 salary payments for some of its workers to a technical network glitch specifically affecting accounts domiciled with Zenith Bank.
In a statement released on Friday by the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation (OAGF), the government acknowledged complaints from public servants across several Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) who are yet to receive their salaries.
“Upon investigation, it was discovered that the salary payments were disrupted due to a technical issue during the processing phase at the bank,” said Bawa Mokwa, Director of Press and Public Relations at the OAGF.
The government admitted the disruption has caused significant anxiety and frustration, especially in light of the rising cost of living and the reliance of many families on prompt salary disbursement.
“We deeply regret the inconvenience this unfortunate incident has caused and assure all affected employees that immediate steps have been taken to resolve the issue,” the statement read.
According to the OAGF, the office is currently working closely with relevant service providers and stakeholders to reprocess all failed payments without further delay.
It also called for calm among affected federal workers, promising that no effort will be spared to ensure everyone receives their entitled pay as swiftly as possible.
“The welfare of Federal Government employees remains a top priority,” the OAGF reaffirmed, adding that it remains committed to transparency, accountability, and efficiency in payroll operations.
