According to Plateau police, a tanker explosion at the Bauchi Road intersection in Jos North Local Government Area killed 13 persons and damaged 28 stores.
Alfred Alabo, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), announced this in a statement issued on Friday in Jos.
According to Mr. Alabo, the tanker crashed on Thursday due to a break failure, destroying eight other vehicles, six tricycles, and two motorcycles.
“The ten people who were injured in varying degrees during the incident are being treated at various hospitals.”
“Bodies of the deceased have also been buried according to Islamic rights,” he explained.
Mr Alabo stated that the state’s Commissioner of Police, Bartholomew Onyeka, paid a visit to the scene of the incident. He expressed regret for the actions of some local youth who set fire to the official vehicle of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC).
According to the PPRO, the commissioner advised residents of the state to always follow the law.
