Vice Admiral Ibok-ete Ibas (retd.), the sole administrator for River State, has arrived at the state’s government house to resume his official duties.
Ibas arrived at the Port Harcourt International Airport at 11:25 a.m. on Thursday and was greeted by key officials and security officers.
The sole administrator, escorted by the state Commissioner of Police, Olugbenga Adepoju, and the Assistant Inspector General of Police, Zone 16, then headed to Government House in Port Harcourt.
Ibas has already arrived at the Government House and has been shown around by several government officials.
He is currently attending a closed-door meeting with senior security officers, a federal government delegation, and state government officials.
His appointment as the sole administrator follows the declaration of a state of emergency by President Bola Tinubu in the state.
It will be recalled that Tinubu declared a state of emergency in Rivers State, suspending the democratically elected governor of the state, Governor Siminalayi Fubara, his deputy Prof. Ngozi Odu, and the state house of assembly.
Consequently, Ibas was sworn in on Wednesday by Tinubu.
