Operatives of the Nigeria police have allegedly harassed a social media influencer, accusing him of fraud.
The victim, simply identified as Justin UG, in a statement on X, lamented about his ordeal in the hands of the police operatives on his way to the airport.
He mentioned that the operatives who identified themselves as members of the ”anti-fraud unit,” stationed kilometres away from the airport, accused him of being a fraudster before taking him to their office.
”Why did the Nigerian police just stop me right by the airport to search my suitcase because they are the anti-fraud unit?” he queried.
”Is the anti-fraud unit staying a couple of kilometres away from the airport to search people going to the airport?” he asked.
”Cool, they took me to their office, searched my bags, and then the next thing they’ve taken my phone because apparently I’m a fraudster now?” He added.
He also lamented their request to go through his Gmail and WhatsApp without him ”supervising” the process.
He said, ”You want to go through my Gmail and WhatsApp for what reason? I’ve shown you every single identity I have, but still you insisted you want to search my phone without me supervising.”
However, he mentioned that he was allowed to go after nothing incriminating was found on him.
”I’ve left; I’m not sure if I’ll make my flight, but this is just nuts,” he cried.
