The Jigawa State Hisbah Board has announced the confiscation and destruction of alcoholic beverages valued at N5.8 million in Kazaure Local Government Area.
In an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria in Dutse on Monday, the Hisbah Commander in the state, Ibrahim Dahiru, confirmed the operation was led by the Chairman of Kazaure, Alhaji Mansur Dabuwa.
According to Dahiru, the board “seized and burnt alcohol worth N5.8 million” during coordinated raids on bars in the area. He revealed that a total of 400 cartons of alcoholic drinks were destroyed.
He further stated, “The consumption of beer is prohibited in all parts of the state,” reaffirming the board’s commitment to its mandate.
Dahiru added that Hisbah would intensify its efforts to combat immoral acts, including the consumption of alcohol.
He further called on the public to “support the board with vital information to enable it to carry out its duties effectively,” and urged residents to “desist from engaging in vices and immoral acts capable of destroying society.”
