    The Emir of Gurku in Karu Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, Jubril Mohammed, and his wife were abducted by gunmen suspected to be kidnappers.

    The Traditional ruler and his wife were reportedly abducted at 10 p.m. on Sunday night from his house in Gurku, an FCT suburb.

    When contacted, the Nasarawa State Police Command confirmed the kidnapping of the Emir of Gurku, Jubril Mohammed, and his wife by suspected kidnappers on Sunday, August 6, 2023, about 10 p.m.

    DSP Ramhan Nansel, the command’s spokesman, stated that the suspected kidnappers broke into the Emir’s palace, which is located approximately 10 kilometers from the main town of Gurku in Nasarawa state’s Karu local government region.

    “Upon receipt of the information, the state commissioner of police, Baba Maiyaki, deployed a combined team of police operatives in collaboration with the vigilante group to the scene”.

    According to Nansel, the monarch and his wife were whisked away by the gunmen to an unknown destination in the surrounding bushes and mountains.

    He also added that a combined team of detectives, an anti-kidnapping unit, and tactical men of the command have been deployed to ensure the traditional ruler and his wife’s prompt rescue.

    According to him, attempts are being made to rescue the Emir and his wife unharmed, and he informed the people that the police are determined to rescue them and combat the state’s evil.
