Gunmen have reportedly kidnapped an unspecified number of pupils in the Emure Local Government Area of Ekiti State.

According to a post on Ekititrends’ X handle on Tuesday, January 30, the incident involves children from Apostolic Faith School who were allegedly kidnapped on Monday while travelling from Emure Ekiti to Eporo Ekiti by school bus.

The number of students in the kidnappers‘ den is currently unknown, and the authorities have yet to confirm the occurrence.

The incident occurred after the killing of two traditional rulers in the state: Oba Olatunde Samuel Olusola, Onimojo of Imojo Ekiti, and Oba David Babatunde Ogunsola, Elesun of Esun Ekiti, who were ambushed by gunmen on their way home from a meeting.

However, the third traditional ruler, the Alara of Ara-Ekiti, Oba Adebayo Fatoba, evaded the attack.

Biodun Oyebanji, the governor of Ekiti State, denounced the heinous conduct and instructed security personnel in the state to find the gunmen who carried out the attack.

He also assured the the people of the state that the government would stop at nothing to get to the bottom of the situation.
