Micah Gochin, a retired customs officer, was assassinated by gunmen in Plateau State, and his son was taken hostage.
The former customs officer was attacked on Sunday night at around 11:00 p.m. in his home, according to a community source who spoke to newsmen on the condition of anonymity.
According to information provided, the kidnappers made their way inside the Gochin residence on Bauchi Ring Road across from the University of Jos residences.
A source said that after holding the homeowners hostage, they entered Gochin’s bedroom and shot him closely before leaving him to bleed to death in a pool of his own blood.
The source also said that while the kidnappers were leaving the residence after the heinous incident, they abducted the son of the retired Customs officials and whisked him away on a motorcycle.
Before the teams led by the DPO Nasarawa and Laranto could arrive on the scene of the event, according to Plateau police spokesman DSP Alfred Alabo, who confirmed the occurrence, the gunmen had escaped.
Alabo said the policemen took the victim to the hospital, where it was determined that he had passed away. He added that the Command was working to find those responsible for the incident and save the victim’s son.
