    GTBank customers edgy over unsolicited cash transactions, others

    Customers of GTBank, the flagship subsidiary of Guaranty Trust Holding Company (GTCO) Plc, have voiced their frustration over the halt in digital transactions and poor in-bank processes, which have caused significant financial setbacks for both individuals and businesses.

    This disruption follows the bank’s recent announcement that it was transitioning to a new and advanced Finacle Core Banking Application System.

    Despite the upgrade, customers across Nigeria are facing challenges in accessing their funds due to poor network service and outright stoppage, with many unable to get through to customer service for assistance.

    A visit by Chronicle NG to its branches in Wuse, Jabi, and other parts of Abuja revealed a scene of distressed customers, including small business owners, who shared stories of how the bank’s technical issues have impacted their operations.

    Additionally, social media responses revealed distress as some GTBank customers sought alternative means to meet their financial needs.

    Mallam Jabir disclosed, “I just logged into my mobile app and saw a debit transaction of more than 140k+, which I am not aware of, and I am noticing Central Bank of Nigeria as the beneficiary.

    “Dear GTBank, I need an explanation on this matter, please,” he demanded.

    Canon Temitope, a customer at Jabi, Abuja, branch complained that money sent to him on Monday afternoon has not yet reflected.

    Chidoki Azuibuike expressed his frustration, saying, “For two days now, I cannot access my funds, and my entire life and business almost came to a halt. My family nearly went hungry, and this is all you people have to say. No apologies, no reparation, just nothing. Abeg, I no do again. You can continue with your yeye update till eternity.”

    Abdulwahab Bello advised GTBank, “It’s better to focus on resolving all the issues rather than announcing that they’re resolved when, in reality, they are not.

    “I just hope the transition isn’t a journey to glory.” Monica Mnyim enquired, adding, “My transfer has been pending since yesterday; neither the receiver nor the reverser have received it yet.”

    Marvelous Bodo Saga alleged “This is the kind of story we typically encounter when Ponzi schemes are on the verge of shutting down with each system upgrade.” Hope it’s not what I’m thinking.”

    Digital banking transactions should not exacerbate our suffering but rather help it. Nothing is working since. Let’s know what the problem is rather than using transition as a cover. Bankruptcy?, Tani Mola queried.”
