A body has been found in the wreckage of the building that fell on First Avenue in Banana Island, Ikoyi, Lagos State.
The remains of an adult male who had previously been unaccounted for by site supervisors were discovered during search and recovery efforts, according to a statement released on Friday by the Lagos State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso.
According to Omotosho, “the excavation of the site, using the architectural designs, continues.”
He claims that the area has been divided into four sections to facilitate a laborious search and rescue effort. “The search operation has been completed, and quadrants 2 and 3 have been brought to a complete standstill. Quadrant 4 is still active, he said.
He said: “Twenty-five people were rescued from the site when the building went down on Wednesday. They are all doing fine.
“When a roll call was done by the site supervisors, everyone was accounted for. Nobody could ascertain whether the victim whose body was found this morning was on the site – as of the time the roll call was taken.”
