The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has disclosed the details of a recent reconciliation meeting with Governor Siminalayi Fubara amid the ongoing political crisis in Rivers State.
Speaking at a media briefing on Monday, Wike confirmed that Fubara, accompanied by two governors from the All Progressives Congress (APC), visited him to seek peace.
However, Wike expressed doubt over the governor’s sincerity and ability to foster genuine reconciliation, citing the continued provocative actions of the his supporters.
“I told him, I don’t think you have the capacity to really make this peace. It’s not easy; if you’re making peace, your people are demonstrating every day.
“If you are making peace, your people are busy on television insulting people,” Wike stated.
His remarks come a day after Fubara publicly urged his supporters to refrain from actions that could undermine the peace process he is trying to achieve.
