In a bid to ensure road safety during the Sallah season, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has carried out a special enforcement operation in Nyanya, Abuja, leading to the arrest of multiple traffic offenders and the impoundment of vehicles.
According to a statement shared on the Corps’ official X (formerly Twitter) account on Thursday, the operation was aimed at curbing traffic violations among commercial tricycle operators in the area.
The statement read in part: “As part of efforts to ensure the safety of road users during the Sallah festivities, Officers and Men of RS7.13 Nyanya Unit Command, led by the Unit Commander, ACC S Abdu conducted a special operation on June 4, 2025 targeting route violations, particularly by commercial tricycle operators.”
The exercise reportedly led to the arrest of several violators and the confiscation of their vehicles.
“The operation resulted in the arrest and impoundment of 25 tricycles for route traffic violations.
“Summarily, 31 offenders were apprehended following which 26 vehicles were impounded,” the statement continued.
Describing the move as a proactive step, the Corps emphasized the importance of ensuring order on the roads, especially during periods of increased travel.
“This proactive measure aims to enhance road safety and enforce traffic regulations during the festive period,” the Corps stated.
The FRSC urged all motorists, particularly commercial drivers, to respect designated routes and abide by all traffic rules during the Eid celebrations.
