Amid fanfare, Chairman of Apapa Local Government in Lagos, Idowu Senbanjo, has presented cash and gifts to the first Baby-of-the-year.
The infant was born at Primary Health Centre, Ijora, at 6:25 am on January 1. It weighed 3kg.
Gifts include clothes, cabinet, diapers, clothes dryers and a baby bed with net
Senbanjo described the infant as a bundle of joy to the family and the council.
The council boss congratulated the child’s parents, Mr and Mrs AbdulGaniu for the gift of life. She prayed that God would protect and provide for the upkeep of the child.
She advised the mother to always go for maternity and postnatal care. According to her, babies are the joy for every couple.
She urged the parents to give the baby the best care and proper upbringing.
Any parent who looks forward to reaping their benefit for bringing children to the world, Senbanjo said, should give them good training.
Head of Medical Department, Dr Oladolapo Sotunde, congratulated the parents.
She urged them to use the gifts and cash well.
According to her, proper care of the infant shouldn’t be neglected.
The council boss and Dr Sotunde were accompanied to the health centre by Vice Chairman, Ismail Ganiu, his wife: Alhaja Kafayat Ismail Ganiu; Supervisor for Health, Fatai Awere, Supervisor for Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation (WAPA), Sola Adesanya, Supervisor for Legislative Matter, Saidi Liadi and party stalwarts.
