Fire razed six shops in Ogbomoso, Oyo State, destroying properties worth millions of Naira.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria, the inferno on Thursday in Ile-Ewe, Sawmill Area, Ogbomoso, affected six of the area’s ten locked-up shops.

Mr. Maroof Akinwande, Chairman of the Oyo State Fire Services Agency, acknowledged the occurrence in a statement released in Ibadan on Friday.

According to Akinwande, the agency’s personnel received a distress call about the inferno incident from Mr. David Ajagbe at 14:08 on Thursday.

Akinwande stated that the agency’s personnel, led by CFS Dairo, promptly left for the scene and arrived on time.

“On getting to the scene, we met six out of 10 locked-up shops well alight and quickly engaged our appliance, and we were able to curtail the inferno from spreading to other shops and nearby properties.

“Properties worth millions of Naira were affected by the fire, and the fire service was able to save millions of properties,” the chairman said.

He stated that no casualties were reported while the inquiry was underway to determine the cause of the inferno.
