An unidentified 50-year-old man was murdered in an explosion in Tel Aviv, while a passerby was injured.

The Shin Bet is heavily involved in the inquiry, and the police are looking into all potential motives, including terrorism.

According to Haaretz, the explosion on Sunday night damaged a truck, and police confirmed that the individual carried the bomb.

Superintendent Peretz Amar of Tel Aviv District said at the scene that identifying the man is critical to determining whether the explosion was criminal or terrorist in origin.

β€œIt could be terrorism or a criminal act,” said the district commander, adding that they are giving serious consideration to the possibility it was an act of terrorism.

Peretz mentioned that the police received dozens of emergency calls, with citizens and officers reporting a mangled body and scattered body parts in the street.

He revealed further that the injured person in the incident was passing through the area on a scooter.
