The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested former governor Abdulaziz Yari in connection with the investigation of the Accountant-General of the Federation, Ahmed Idris.
Yari, a former governor of Zamfara state was arrested on Sunday at his residence in Abuja days after he won the ruling APC’s ticket for Zamfara West senatorial election. He won unopposed.
Chronicle NG reported that Idris is in EFCC custody since May 16 when he was arrested by the anti-graft agency over N80 billion corruption allegations.
Yari is believed to have conspired with Idris to steal public funds which has been used to acquire choice properties across Nigeria.

According to sources, suspicious transactions between Idris and Yari were “in the area of 20 billion Naira”.
The former Zamafara governor is not new to anti-graft law enforcement actions.
Last year, he was repeatedly held and questioned by the EFCC over allegations he criminally diverted billions in Zamfara’s funds kept in a bank.
