Drama broke out at the one year commemoration of the EndSARS protest at the Lekki toll gate on Wednesday.
Some protesters who were celebrating one year of protesting against police brutality fought over an undisclosed amount of money given to them by an unnamed Nigerian artiste.
According to an eyewitness, the singer who was at Lekki toll gate to felicitate with protesters on the one year anniversary of #EndSARS generously doled cash at some of the protesters.
It was reported that on getting the money from the artiste, a protester fled the scene, prompting other protesters to go after him for their share of the money.
“A fight ensued afterwards as they caught up with the protester who attempted to runaway with the money that was given to everyone,” another protester said.
The money was eventually shared by a handful of protesters, most of whom were having fun at the Lekki toll gate.
End SARS is a decentralised social movement, and series of mass protests against police brutality in Nigeria.
The slogan called for the disbanding of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), a unit of the Nigerian Police with a long record of abuses.
