    Election: PDP defeats Zamfara House of Assembly Speaker

    Nasiru Muazu Magarya, Speaker of the Zamfara State House of Assembly, who ran on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, lost his Zurmi West constituency to PDP candidate Bilyaminu Ismail of the Peoples Democratic Party.

    Announcing the result, the returning officer, Muddasir Ismail Moriki, said, “Speaker Nasiru Muazu Magarya scored 9530 votes, while his opponent of the Peoples Democratic Party, Ismail Muddasir scored 11213 votes.

    He said, “I, Muddasir Ismail, the returning officer of the 2023 Zurmi West State Assembly Constituency election held on March 18, 2023, the election was contested by candidates with the following votes.”

    ”Mu’azu Nasiru of APC scored 9,530 votes and Isma’il Bilyaminu of the Peoples Democratic Party scored 11,213 votes.”

    “Therefore, Isma’il Bilyaminu of the PDP having satisfied the requirements of the law has been declared elected.”

    In a related development, the Deputy speaker of the house, Musa Yankuzo, has also lost his seat to the Peoples Democratic Party candidate, Bello Maza-waje.

    The results of some local government areas are still being awaited.
