Senator Dino Melaye, the Peoples Democratic Party’s governorship candidate has unveiled Habeebat Deen as his running mate in the November 11 election in the north central state.
Deen was presented to PDP stakeholders and members in Abuja on Friday at an unveiling ceremony that took place at the residence of former Kogi governor, Ibrahim Idris.
Speaking at the unveiling, Idris said, “We need to work together as members of the same family. If that is done, I believe success is ours.”
“Dino has shown that he is ready to do the work. He has been saying things that show that he means business,” Idris added.
Habeebat Deen served in the Kogi State House of Assembly. She is from the Kogi East senatorial zone’s Ankpa local government area.
Reacting to Habeebat Deen’s nomination, Melaye wrote, “Unveiling the deputy governorship candidate of PDP in Kogi State today. One Kogi, One Destiny,” he tweeted.
Melaye stated that her selection was unique in the State’s major political party, and that “we will continue to do things that are innovative and different.”
The State PDP chairman, Engr. Sam Ohuotu, Brigadier General Tunde Ogbeha (rtd), former Governor Ibrahim Idris, Prince Olusola Akanmode, Dr. Tom Adaba, and Mrs Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, among others, were present at the unveiling occasion.
Ogbeha praised Melaye for immediately and smoothly naming a deputy governorship candidate on the PDP ticket, noting that “he (Melaye) has shown his gender sensitivity.”
“It’s a divine choice. He has made a statement beyond Kogi State because it will generate a lot of interests, excitement and goodwill.”
