Sabiu Akilu was sentenced to four months in jail by a Karu Upper Area Court in Abuja on Friday for causing a disturbance.
However, the judge, Ishaq Hassan, offered the convict a N10,000 fine and warned him to stop committing crimes.
The prisoner, who has no permanent location, pled guilty to one count of constituting annoyance following an order to cease.
Mr Akilu was detained on March 15 by a squad of police officers from Asokoro Police Station, according to the prosecutor, Olarewaju Osho.
According to him, the squad lead by Courage Erhabor detained the felon and three others while on patrol in Kasuan Dere, Asokoro Village, for causing a disturbance.
He said that the inmate had been admonished several times to quit being a nuisance.
He said that the prisoner was unable to provide a good account of himself during the police inquiry.
The claimed crime is a violation of Penal Code Section 199.
