Governor Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun, the Allied Peoples Movement governorship candidate, Honourable Adekunle Akinlade (APM) and a Peoples Democratic Party governorship aspirant, Ladi Adebutu have signed a Memorandum of Understanding on how Ogun resources will be shared if Akinlade is elected governor.

The tripartite agreement between them which was leaked by a senior member of the APM and it chronicled the sharing formula agreed with Adebutu of PDP, who later endorsed Akinlade, directing his supporters to vote the APM candidate.

The MoU which was signed on 7 March 2019 described as ‘working alliance between APM/Akinlade and Adebutu’s group in PDP Ogun State towards the governorship election of March 9, 2019’ detailed what Adebutu will receive for supporting Akinlade’s APM.

“The parties hereby agree to work together and support to ensure the victory of Hon. Akinlade at the March 09, 2019 governorship election in Ogun state,” the MoU read.

Another part of the pact explained how the trio agreed to allocation of appointments. “That Senator Amosun and Hon. Adekunle Akinlade hereby agree and Ladi Adebutu concurs to the following allocation of positions in government and immediate attention to the infrastructure projects.

The pact then went on to list the following positions that will be ceded to Mr. Adebutu. “Two commissioners; three Senior Special Assistants; two Special Advisers; five Special Assistants; Chairman of SUBEB or Local Government Service Commission; DG-Lands or OPIC chairman; council chairmen/caretaker (one from each zone plus two in Ogun East Senatorial District).

If the positions that Mr. Adebutu will get for supporting Mr. Akinlade was breathtaking then the infrastructure agreement is definitely eye popping.

“100kms of community roads per Federal Constituency per annum and Illisan-Ago Iwoye road projects,” are two of the juicy infrastructure agreed with Mr. Adebutu.

Others projects already awarded to Mr. Adebutu are “Iperu/Illisan Cargo Airport (reactivation); OKFTZ; Five Mini-Water works including reticulations per Federal Constituency; Sagamu-Ogijo-Ikorodu Dualisation; Ijebu Ode-Ejinrin Dualisation; Oba Erinwole by-pass-Sagamu.

There is more. Mr. Adebutu also got a fair share of Federal Government appointments too. “Executive Directors or Directors in all of the following but as possible whenever the need arises and they include, MINT, FHA, FERMA, BOI, Federal Mortgage Bank, Ogun-Osun River Basin, NERFUND, PTDF, Secretary of Transportation-FCT, Nigeria Agricultural Bank, Nigeria Railway Corporation, Pro-Chancellor (any federal university), DUKE and NAPIEMS.

“The understanding is made with copious note that Senator Ibikunle Amosun and Hon. Akinlade, have respectively agreed to implement the above stated clauses with each assuming shared responsibilities on those projects in Ogun Central and West Districts respectively,” the Mou read.

Mr. Adebutu was also going to be actively involved in the transition of government. “The parties also agree to participate in the Transition Committees to be setup by Hon. Akinlade, immediately after successful election of March 9, 2019.”

They also agreed to a duration for which their contract would last. “This agreement is valid for a period of three years effective from date,” the leaked documents revealed. The agreement was signed by both Mr. Akinlade and Mr. Adebutu with eight witnesses appending their signature to the deal on 7 March.
